Innovation Talk: Undoing Aging with Aubrey de Grey

Innovation Talk: Undoing Aging with Aubrey de Grey. British biologist Aubrey de Grey talks about a question that people usually try to avoid although it affects all of us. Aging kills the largest number of people and causes many other’s suffering day by day. Searching for a solution, de Grey refuses to think about aging as a disease to be cured. He presents a new idea of maintenance to repair the prime cause of aging: the damages of the human body.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Creativity and Innovation in Micro Enterprises

“Design has been defined as a transformation of existing conditions. Design thinking is process. A process that is optimised for certain things for really building up what might be as opposed to breaking down what is. if you can visualise it as a set of tools or a problem solving approach that’s not better than analytic thinking its just optimised for certain conditions of real uncertainty”.

Innovation Presentation: Creativity and the Technical Mind

Innovation Presentation: Creativity and the Technical Mind. There’s learning and expertise…and then there is the very human-only act of putting them both together as an innovative solution to some problem or challenge. At brightboys.org, we explore that special, hard-wired knack for creativity handed down to each of us from the small groups of beleaguered homo sapiens who struggled their way into Europe. The ancient bond! . See more at www.brightboys.org on Creativity and the Technical Mind.

Innovation Speech: Fostering Innovation

Innovation Speech: Fostering Innovation. Want to Foster Innovation? Put Down Your iPad and Unplug. IBM technology evangelist David Barnes champions boredom as a critical ingredient in fostering innovation. Trying to come up with the next big disruptive idea? Unplug for awhile. Complete video at: http://fora.tv/conference/idea_festival_2011

—–

Serious innovation has evolved beyond continual improvement to transformational, often disruptive change. Linear thinking and cautious change is inconsistent with the demands of our hyper-competitive marketplace of ideas. IBM technology evangelist David Barnes talks about the dynamics of invention and game-changing innovation, including ways that IBM (with over 50,000 patents!) continues to meet this challenge. David will be joined by Heather Howell, Chief Tea Officer of Rooibee Red Tea, for a discussion of how innovation is embraced from both a large and small entrepreneurial company perspective.

Presented by the Kentucky Community and Technical College.

Much more than a conference, the IdeaFestival is a catalyst for high-speed innovation, product development, and creative endeavors. This series of events attracts leading thinkers and curious minds from across the nation and around the globe.
